Give it a list of vehicles (make, model, model year) or VINs and get one flat JSON row per recall campaign or owner complaint. Every row has the same fields in the same order: record type, vehicle, manufacturer, record ID, date, components, summary, and for recalls the consequence and remedy, for complaints the crash, fire, injury and death flags.

The data comes from the US federal vehicle safety agency's free public API. The actor matches your model name to the names the agency uses (so "crv" finds "CR-V"), removes duplicates, and puts the newest complaints first.

A VIN lookup decodes the VIN to its make, model and year, then returns the recalls for that vehicle line. It is not a repair-status check for one car. For that, use the manufacturer's or the agency's own VIN search page.

Limits: US vehicles only, no tires or equipment, complaint text passed through exactly as published. Not affiliated with or endorsed by any government agency or vehicle maker.
